Process

How the line is configured

For the dense end of the plastic waste stream, where the challenge is cutting rather than cleaning.

Why rigid plastics need a different line

Pipe, crates, pallets and thick sheet are heavy and tough. They demand a crusher with a reinforced chamber and a cutting action suited to thick walls, and once reduced they sink rather than float, which changes how the separation stages have to work. They are also usually cleaner than film or post-consumer bottles, so the washing stages can be shorter.

Configuration

Feeding into a heavy-duty crusher, then a friction washer for surface contamination, rinsing and separation stages configured for sinking material, and dewatering. Material scoop discharge lifts flake out of the rinsing pool continuously into the dryer.

Contamination

Industrial scrap is often contaminated with oil, mould release or metal inserts rather than soil. The wash chemistry and the separation stages are chosen accordingly — and a magnetic separator ahead of the crusher protects the blades from metal fittings left in the material.
