Film is the hardest common material to wash well, and the one where line configuration matters most.
Why film needs its own line
Film and woven bag are light, springy and bulky. They bridge across a standard crusher instead of being cut, they float rather than sink, and they carry soil differently from rigid plastic — often embedded in the surface rather than sitting on it. A line configured for bottles will not process film well, however good the individual machines are.
Configuration
The line normally runs: belt conveyor into an eight-blade granulator, then a friction washer for the main scrubbing stage, followed by rinsing pools where the material is floated and cleaned, and finally a dewatering stage. Because film holds water, the drying stage is specified generously.
Contamination
Agricultural and greenhouse film is usually the most heavily soiled input a washing plant sees. Where soil loading is high, a soaking tank ahead of the friction washer releases the bulk of it and takes the load off the downstream stages, which keeps output far more consistent.
