Process

How the line is configured

Built around the two things that decide bottle flake quality: label removal and density separation.

Configuration

Bottles are de-labelled before crushing, so paper is removed dry rather than breaking up into pulp in the wash water. The de-labelled bottles are crushed, then friction washed, then passed through rinsing pools where the density difference between HDPE, PP caps and any residual PET or paper does the separating work.

Why delabel first

Once label paper is wet it breaks down into fibres that are extremely difficult to remove from flake and which lower the value of the whole batch. Removing it as a dry step ahead of the crusher is far more effective and far cheaper than trying to filter it out afterwards.

Output quality

The number of rinsing and separation stages is set by the purity you need. Flake destined for higher-grade reprocessing needs more stages than material going into lower-grade applications, and we will tell you honestly where the point of diminishing return sits for your target market.
